  • Car Condition was added: Scrapped
  • Car History

Used for display purposes at dealers during 1956. Intended for conversion to XKSS but used to replace XKD 537 when that car was destroyed in the factory fire. Shipped to Mauricio Miranda (El Salvador) and raced without success. January 1962 advertised for sale and shipped to the USA. 1966 advertised for sale by Thomas Foreman (New Jersey), now red. March 1967 advertised by Herb Wetson as XKD 537. In 1977 owned by the late Paul Petty (Connecticut, USA). Still owned by Petty family. See XKD 537.

But which car? According to "Thoroughbred & Classic Cars" May 1997 issue this car, with identity XKD537 was auctioned in 1997 by Christie's. XKD549 ceased to exist as it was used to replace XKD537 that was destroyed in the factory fire and got a new identity. Cheers!

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
